Overview
Reduce the chance of injury and damage during an earthquake by ensuring vertical chillers and freezers are positioned securely in place.
Lockable Castors and Stabiliser Feet
Most SKOPE vertical chillers and freezers are fitted with lockable front castors, and some are also fitted with front stabiliser feet. When the cabinet is in position, the front castors should always be locked. To lock the castors, press the pedal on the side of each castor down until the wheel locks in place. Note: Rear castors are not usually fitted with locks. If present, stabiliser feet should be fitted to the mounting screws underneath the front of the cabinet and wound down to make firm contact with the floor.
Restraints
Seismic restraints can also be fitted to the cabinet and an adjacent supporting structure to help support the cabinet during earthquakes. While many systems are available, the staple and chain example below is simple and cost effective.
