Product Group: IRINOX, MISA and ITV
Content: IRINOX, MISA and ITV Models - R452A Refrigerant Change-Over
Issue Date: 13/0/2018
Customer: General
Bulletin No: SBG0101
Revision: 1.0 (Current version of this bulletin)

Overview

All imported models from IRINOX (Blast Chillers and Shock Freezers), MISA (Cool and Freezer Rooms) and ITV (Ice Makers) have recently changed their refrigerant from R404A to R452A.

Why has it changed?

This has been done due to changes to refrigeration legislation in the global phase down of HFC refrigerants, which R404A is one of many. R404A refrigerant has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) figure of 3922, compared to R452A which has a 45% lower GWP of 1945.

When does it change?

All IRINOX, MISA and ITV models manufactured from 1st February 2018 will incorporate R452A refrigerant.

What changes?

The refrigerant changes from R404A to R452A. The volume of R452A gas may also change (the refrigerant and gas charge can be found on the cabinet rating label). There may be changes to components on some models. The performance of the product does not change.

Installation

Installation requirements, including positioning and ventilation of the product, do not change.

Recharging

Although R404A and R452A refrigerants are interchangeable, units should only be recharged with the refrigerant and volume of gas specified on the rating label. SKOPE recommend existing R404A units should be recharged with R404A. If alternative R452A refrigerant is to be used, please contact SKOPE for advice prior to change.

IMPORTANT: SKOPE does not approve the use of any other refrigerants in these products.
